El futuro en el cine
El cine empieza a mostrar el futuro con "Metr≤polis"(foto), de 1926. Fritz Lang tom≤ como base la novela de segunda categorφa de Thea von Harbou y, sobre todo, se preocup≤ en establecer un ambiente futurista. El impacto fue tal que el cine nunca mßs logr≤ hacer nada distinto. El ambiente de "Metr≤polis" es el transplante para pantalla de las ideas lanzadas por Wells en "Story of the Times to Come" y "When the Sleeper Awakes". Lo que cuenta es la noci≤n de que la tecnologφa domina la vida. Las ciudades son inmensas fßbricas, los trabajadores un inmenso ejΘrcito. Es la misma visi≤n de Edward Bellamy, solo cambia en la evaluaci≤n: las ciudades y ejΘrcitos son una se±al de terror, no de felicidad. Al lado, se ve una lista de pelφculas futuristas. En el siglo en que el futuro es una pesadilla, la lista confirma: el 100% de ellas muestra un futuro negro. Las alternativas son la destrucci≤n, el aumento del abismo social o la anti-utopφa.
